Imdb Its Christmastime Again Charlie Brown

It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown (TV Short 1992) Poster

5 /10

Okay...

The simply matter this brusk has going over its predecessor is the animation has improved. However, because that the blitheness of the original Charlie Chocolate-brown Christmas isn't actually something to get worked up over, information technology leaves piddling room for this short to exist equally relevant.

The characters are all the same as sweet, but the offset one spent a lot of time dealing with the anxiety of the season while this one just kind of presented information technology as it is. The offset one had a lot to say, this one didn't.

Most chiefly, the start one was funnier.

Not that this isn't an enjoyable experience past whatsoever means. They brand a skilful back-to-back show together and Snoopy ever jumps the quality upwardly from good to great. And so enjoy.

lacks a compelling overarching story

Charlie Dark-brown struggles to sell Christmas wreaths door to door. Sally is not much aid. Peppermint Patty is trying to read a book. She's hanging out with Marcie. Snoopy is ringing the bell as Santa. Emerge tries to write a letter to Santa and tries to sympathize Christmas. Charlie Brown is trying to buy a pair of gloves for Peggy Jean. Peppermint Patty volunteers to be Mary in the school play merely the role is already given to Marcie.

It'southward a scattering of Christmas themed sketches. This is in-line with the other Charlie Brown shows where distinct split cartoon skits are lump together. Information technology doesn't accept flow. The story is certainly not as compelling equally the original 65 Christmas special. It feels rather disjointed and cobbled together from several stories. However, it is still Charlie Brown and has that innocent charm equally e'er.

Not as relevant

When compared to the original Charlie Brownish Christmas this picture show seems to be less social commentary and more an excuse for gags. Information technology's more cartoonish and has more obvious laughs rather than any irony or important things to say.

There's some other Xmas play in this 'united nations. Peppermint Patty is refusing to do whatever homework and is bellyaching that Marcie is playing Mary and she is left with the thankless part of a sheep. Still, she's adamant to steal as much scenery as possible. Charlie Brown is selling his erstwhile comics to buy an Xmas present for his wannabe girlfriend and his sister Emerge has only 1 word to say in the play 'HARK' only she ends upwards yelling 'HOCKEY STICK' instead.

More than similar a series of Peanuts vignettes than a existent TV special. But still nice.

Y'all're not missing much

Alarm: Spoilers

This is some other Peanuts cartoon from quite a while ago, actually nearly 25 years, but given the get-go of these came out virtually 50 years agone, it's not really that long. The director is Bill Melendez and he made several Peanuts films, the writer is Charles M. Schulz as always of class. The cast is not known at all. Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas voiced 1 of the girl characters presently earlier this was made, simply by 1992 she was besides erstwhile for the function. Anyway, it'southward Christmas fourth dimension again and it's really more of the usual. The kids are preparing a play and at that place is lots of talk of the commercial aspects of the holidays against the real tradition. Still, this topic was too significant in one of the very old Peanuts cartoons if I remember correctly, so it's a bit of beating a dead equus caballus. I have never been the biggest Peanuts fan, but i bask some of these cartoons however. This ane is not among them. Not recommended.

Charles Shultz does information technology once again

Alert: Spoilers

I have noticed that several viewers have given this film a low marking because they compare it to the special fabricated in 1965. I say don't watch this 1 and compare it to A Charlie Brown Christmas. Just sit dorsum and take a break from the other Christmas films that become played over and over once more over the Holidays. Snoopy once again, every bit in all the Peanuts Specials, steals the show. Snoopy with the candy canes, as the Santa Claus, and putting the gloves to good use is priceless. Who can forget Emerge just having to say "Hark" for her single line of the Christmas play and bravado it? Also, Pepper Mint Patty's question about Mary wearing spectacles is a nice touch all because she's angry almost being a sheep. In the end leave information technology to Linus to put the finishing touches on this treat, "Joy To The World!" Charles Shultz and Charlie Dark-brown do not fail in this film. Watch this 1 and the original around the time Christmas rolls around. You'll exist in for a treat for children and adults equally well. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and our friend Charles Shultz brand Christmas more enjoyable.

Not Very Skillful

This special I had no idea even existed. I establish it every bit an Extra on the DVD of the original "Charlie Dark-brown Christmas".

I was looking forward to this when I put it on. My problem with this special is the fact there isn't really one major story driving the special. What nosotros get is a agglomeration Charles Schultz Comics brought to life

That would not of been too bad had the little vintage been a picayune more heart warming. What we do go is about ii-three minutes short sketches and the jokes in them autumn short of any real humor.

There is not one moment that stands out to me. I thing that is clear is that Peppermint Patty and Marci are definitely waving the rainbow flag. That to me was non a big deal. I just wish that this special was amend.

A very funny holiday special.

This 1992 Peanuts special does not have the appeal of its classic predecessor, simply it updates the characters and situations with flair. Blending new characters with the archetype gang of youthful cynics, Charles Schulz again pokes fun at the commercialism of the Yuletide flavor. While not as cohesive or poignant equally "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "It'south Christmastime Again" is much, much funnier.

Skilful follow-up to a classic holiday special

In my stance, this is a good follow-up to a archetype holiday special. Also, when Emerge (vocalization of Jodie Sweetin) messed upward her line in the Christmas play, I laughed. In add-on, the thing that really makes this special worth watching is the music, especially "Linus And Lucy." When that vocal is performed, I always become warm and tingly. I would take to say that'southward my favorite song of this special. If yous enquire me, the Vince Guaraldi Trio is an excellent band. In determination, I highly recommend this expert follow-up to a classic vacation special to everyone, especially all you fans of the comic strip who have not seen it. When you see it, ready to smile and have a expert time.

A very funny and enjoyable Peanuts Noel holiday special

Alert: Spoilers

The Peanuts gang return for this breezy and entertaining romp. The e'er-hapless Charlie Chocolate-brown tries without any success to sell wreaths door to door in order to raise twenty-v dollars and so he can purchase a gift for the adorable Peggy Jean, Peppermint Patty struggles with a book written report, Sally tries to memorize the i line she has to say in the upcoming Christmas play, and Snoopy gets into his usual mischief which includes posing as a sidewalk Santa. Manager Bill Melendez and writer Charles K. Schulz string together an amusing series of random vignettes while maintaining a pleasingly wry tone and snappy pace throughout. The delightfully jaunty'due north'jazzy score by Vince Guaraldi and David Benoit and beautifully fluid animation both assistance matters a lot. The phonation actors all do fine work, with stand-out contributions from John Christian Graas as the precocious Linus, Lindsay Benesh equally bespectacled brainiac Marcie, and Deanna Tollo equally the sweet Peggy Jean. The Christmas play rates equally a definite hilarious highlight, with Peppermint Patty forgetting her one line as a sheep ("Baaa!"). Granted, this program isn't equally poignant or thoughtful every bit the terrific classic original, only it still makes for a perfectly amiable diversion but the same.

Charlie Chocolate-brown screams Why can't I always exist a wrong number?

If yous dearest Charlie Dark-brown and the Peanuts gang, you volition definitely savour this extra Christmas special along with the original Christmas Special which became an annual tradition on television. The updated version is still faithful to the original version in style and format. I enjoyed watching Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang back. I just love watching Charlie Brown selling Christmas wreaths before Thanksgiving. Peppermint Patty request most a book to read for a school report.

Sub par to the original

Warning: Spoilers

This does give abroad some of the plot, by the way. A Charlie Brownish Christmas is one of those timeless classics that teach you the value Christmas and just enjoying the holiday. This, withal, does not. Information technology tries to capture the emotion of A Charlie Dark-brown Christmas, in that location even is another Christmas play, but fails with lackluster and piece of cake jokes. Charlie Brown is no longer wondering about the spirit of Christmas only is instead wants to purchase a present for Peggy Jean ($25 gloves...what?). His sister Emerge is the most annoying character in the pic. Here is one of her jokes: Sally wants to write a letter of the alphabet to Santa, just doesn't know how to spell Charlie (for some reason he needs to be in her letter) so instead decides to proper noun him Sam, because she knows how to spell Sam. Likewise, Sally plays an angel in the play with one give-and-take to day: "Hark!" She instead says hockey stick (har har). If Emerge saying hark 12 times (all oddly sounding exactly the aforementioned) doesn't impale you lot, nothing will. Peppermint Patty and Marcy are a large focal point, but that hardly makes information technology better. Marcy is funny with her responses to Patty, but Patty is some other story. She sounds like a boy (which doesn't dispel the rumors) and gets mad when she has to be the sheep in the play (terrible baas and all). Obviously she is the sheep every year, and is worried she volition forget her lines (lines she doesn't take). She is and so worried she mentions information technology twice, ane right after the other, and gets the same response. I'm assuming she must have short term memory loss, or something. Lucy and Linus are more welcome (although Linus still has abrasive advice), but inappreciably amount to much air time. I'thou sure Schroeder isn't fifty-fifty in this one. All in all, information technology tries to be a parasite to the original, but compromised the bulletin for a few quick laughs.

Times Modify, So Did Charles Schultz

Ask yourself: "What is the appeal of Peanuts?" Authentication notwithstanding articles porcelain collectors' vignettes, plush dolls, ornaments, and cards in great quantities, although new segments of the comic strip are no longer being created, at the strip'south creator's (Schultz') request. I believe that for most children, beyond the animated characters, the music, and short, comedic skits, much of the depth of Peanuts and its holiday specials is lost.

Today, the specials are increasingly dated both in their await and content. I dubiousness that I would picket them now were I a child. I recall the first fourth dimension I saw the original Charlie Dark-brown Christmas special in the 1970s. Even so it seemed out of date. The storyline was also fragmented for easy comprehension, and the concept of an aluminum Christmas tree simply as well strange for words for a kid who had known only real trees. I took information technology as some left-over joke from the xix fifties.

The original Charlie Brown Christmas special's message seemed to assert the pretense of philosophical depth, only spoke more than to the trials of a lonely child seeking the approval of his peers. What I call up nearly is thinking how much I loved the music, and that it would exist fantastic to exist able to play some of it myself. (I memorized "Linus and Lucy" on keyboard many years later, and manage to produce a version of "Christmas Time is Hither" on flute.) I saw the Thanksgiving Day special in its time, and now reminisce about the old station wagons, and how the manufacturers were e'er rearranging the way the back seat(s) would fold downwards to effort to create heir-apparent interest. I still enjoy the last scene of the Thanksgiving special, and allow my ain dog to bring together me for Thanksgiving dinner. In today'southward SUV/mini-van era, the scene at the cease of the Thanksgiving special probably makes children wonder what type of vehicle Charlie Brown'south parents' could possibly own.

I have been forced to conclude that what the Charlie Chocolate-brown specials offer almost poignantly is an opportunity to expect dorsum at children living in a place of arcadian innocence that never was a function of life in America, and to induce an element of whimsy and longing for this version of childhood re-made through the optics of an adult. Even the neighborhood, with its relatively minor and boxlike houses near an surface area sufficiently rural for a pumpkin patch and a Christmas tree farm to be accessible to small children is a thing of the past that is unknown in today'south sprawling cities with high criminal offence rates and an inclination toward large, upscale, and often cookie cutter housing.

The original Christmas special incorporated religious themes, which was expected to sink its ratings. That has never happened. This latest version avoids such ties, and seems to reflect Schultz' own journey toward humanism, which he himself acknowledged. By casting off the deeper emotional and cultural underpinnings of the vacation flavour, it was inevitable that what would result would be less a classic holiday special than a drawing for children.

I don't rent or await the broadcast of this special. The original, with its pure Guaraldi soundtrack and courage to be different, even religious, although I am not a religious person, yet strikes at deeper, human chords than most cartoons. It is a story about the journey of a group of "wee folks" toward a better comprehension of each other, the flavor, and their own motivations, amid a flurry of Yuletide activities. They come together at the end meliorate than they were before. In that ending, with its symbolic chorus, the pregnant of Christmas is communicated. That was an catastrophe for the Christmas flavour that is impossible to top.

Fun Christmas Special

"Information technology'southward Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown" takes several stories from the comic strip such as Charlie Brown selling Christmas wreaths; getting gloves for Peggy Jean; Marcie going out to play a sheep instead of playing Mary on a Christmas play; etc. The special itself is no "A Charlie Brown Christmas," but I do believe that this special is funny and it is fun to see the Peanuts gang equally they have ever been iconic to popular civilization. The blitheness is really well done, and I really enjoy for each grapheme as we come across them for what they are going through during the Christmas holidays. If you don't like this i as much equally "A Charlie Brown Christmas" that is fine, but I do think its a fun Christmas special and it might exist my second favorite Christmas special by the Peanuts gang. I don't know how many Christmas specials that feature the Peanuts, but might go into farther particular on what is my 2nd favorite Christmas special by the Peanuts gang. I give "It's Christmastime Once again, Charlie Chocolate-brown" a ix out of 10.

And then much ameliorate, yet not nearly as good

It's the gang'due south second Christmas special, and everyone is in a rhythm this time around. The blitheness is much more than polished, the direction is fluid, and the jokes come quickly and with such regularity it'due south surprising this wasn't sponsored by an oat bran product. Yes, this special is much more in line with the Saturday morning cartoons of the solar day than with the story-oriented specials of years past. And because of that, it's perfectly suited for a fun family vacation special.

Simply for all this outing does right, information technology has no soul -- none at all. In the original, Charlie Brown lamented the commercialization of Christmas; in this ane he embraces information technology. In the original, the jokes flowed from the characters (east.yard., Snoopy mimicking Lucy); in this 1 information technology'due south all interchangeable punchlines (Sally sounds remarkably like Lucy in this outing).

What information technology really boils down to is depth. In that location is none in this second outing. It's merely jokes, just vignettes, just a contractual obligation to churn out some other special. The original dared to explore what information technology would take to get a perpetual optimist to give up on Christmas; this one is well-nigh ownership gifts and memorizing lines for a Christmas play. Once more, information technology's Sat morning cartoon fodder.

We lookout this 1 every year, and the kids enjoy it well enough. But it doesn't take the underlying appeal that I look for these days. And now that I'm older, I long for stories rather than just jokes. So yes, nosotros watch this one every twelvemonth, simply to me there is but i Peanuts Christmas "special".

Much better than the original

I similar this one improve than the one we all grew upward with. I know, that is a strange thing to say. They only had 6 months to throw together the original. Coca-Cola asked CBS to make a Christmas special so that they could advertise their product. So much for the "commercialization of Christmas"! LOL! So the people who fabricated the special, besides every bit the network people, did not like what they produced. They were very shocked that it was a striking. I retrieve it would accept been a hitting regardless because Peanuts was very popular already, and in that location were just three networks back then. There were not as many Christmas specials back then, either. I'thou not maxim information technology was bad, but it could have been better if they had more fourth dimension on it. Obviously information technology has a lot of charm and also was the first Peanuts special so that makes it unique.

This one is more than like the comic strip (short vignettes strung together), and it looks like they took more than time with it. It moves faster than the original, is funnier, is non every bit religious, and has meliorate music. Even though I am not a kid, I liked it a lot.

The original was very ho-hum-moving, and information technology is heavy with Christian sentiment. The music was good, simply this newer one uses a lot of classical music every bit well, which I enjoyed. This is an "instant archetype", at least to me. Whatsoever child should like it.

A Christmas Special that merely is not a strong i

It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown this is a new original Christmas special from The peanut gang

Now I'll requite them a B for effort simply this i simply don't do just likewise as the classic Charlie Brown Christmas non at all I wouldn't even say it comes close other than Snoopy'due south bits this special just don't concord much but equally a Peanut Fan I try to requite it the do good of a dubiousness

While the film does have something to hold your interest information technology merely has moments of confront palm that makes you wonder what were they thinking?

After watching information technology on DVD it wasn't quite every bit well as I had hoped for.

My best opinion about this Christmas special for Charlie Brown,Snoopy and the other Peanut gang is that it's okay

It does feature good animation as always with good mitt drawn animation

the voice acting is mix at best plus some of the characters

The story is upwardly and downwardly the opening was the best office of the film

Overall I give It's Christmastime Once more,Charlie Brown an 7 out of 10

The sequel from 1965. Possible spoilers

Alert: Spoilers

This was a sequel of "It's Christmas, Charlie Brown" made in 1993. This one isn't as proficient, but it'due south somewhat funnier and lacks the slightly heavy handed message from the original.

It doesn't accept a plot; it's more than like a gear up of vignettes from Charles Schulz's comics from the 1980'southward and early 90's that take to do with Christmas (similar to his Saturday morning drawing from the 1980'southward).

Highlights include the slap-up segment on the gang's Passion Play performance where Sally Dark-brown has to say "Hark" and instead says "Hockey Stick" because she saw her brother belongings one nearly of the day before, Charlie Dark-brown wanting to buy a $25 set of gloves for his friend Peggy Jean, and Charlie Brown selling Xmas wreaths. The Sally Brown character is a very ascendant character in this one, and honestly, I've e'er been a Sally Chocolate-brown marking, so that'southward why I might similar this one more than others; her ditzy behaviour in the comics was always a treat.

All in all, it's not the original, but it'due south however a good one.
